How reservations work

LISTING
Your listing's reservations

Reservation origins

There are two main ways you can receive/create reservations on the UpWoof platform.
  1. A customer may find your listing on UpWoof and make a reservation via the platform.
  2. You may create the reservation in UpWoof after a customer contacts you via other means such as email or phone call. UpWoof refers to these reservations as "off platform".

The reservation workflow

Platform reservations use the following workflow.

The platform reservation workflow

  1. NEW - The customer has started filling out the information for their reservation request but it is incomplete and not yet ready for review.
  2. AWAITING REVIEW - The customer has sent you a reservation request which you can accept or decline.
  3. CONFIRMED - You have reviewed the reservation request and can accommodate it. The customer is notified of this.
  4. CHECKED IN - The customer has dropped off their pet for their stay at your listing.
  5. CHECKED OUT - The customer has picked up their pet. The stay at your listing is complete. The customer is invoiced at this time.
  6. COMPLETED - The reservation will automatically transition to completed once the reservation is paid in full.

Receiving payment

The payment workflow is activated when you check out a guest(s) from their reservation.

The check out button

There are two main ways you can receive customer payment for reservations on the UpWoof platform.
  1. You can automatically send the customer an invoice via the UpWoof Stripe integration.
  2. You can receive customer payment outside of the UpWoof platform e.g. via your own Point of Sale (POS) system. UpWoof refers to these payments as "Out of Band".

Completion

The reservation will automatically be marked as "completed" when following criteria are met:
  1. All the charges on a reservation have been paid by the customer.
  2. 48 hours or more have passed since the reservation's check out date.
Completed is the final reservation state in the reservation workflow. If you have progressed a reservation from "new" through to "completed" you have successfully managed one of your listing's reservations on the UpWoof platform. Congratulations!
